Celebrating Connection Over Circumstance
Recently, I had the honor of photographing an amazing LGBTQ+ couple for a surprise engagement, one of whom uses a wheelchair. Every moment of the session was intentional: the poses, the lighting, and the locations were all thoughtfully designed to highlight their love, connection, and individuality. I still remember the sweet and thoughtful speech Isabell gave to Raven when they got down on one knee. I definitely was tearing up that day.
This session reminded me that photography is about storytelling, emotion, and authenticity, not fitting anyone into a “standard” mold. Before the session, I talked with Isabell to make sure Raven would have the accommodations needed for the wheelchair and found the perfect location: Cedar Lake Farms Regional Park in New Prague, MN. When you trust the process, we can create cinematic, edgy portraits that feel natural, meaningful, and completely you.
How I Approach Inclusive & Adaptive Sessions
Custom Posing & Composition: I guide every pose so it works for all bodies, mobility levels, and comfort zones. You’ll never feel awkward or restricted. Only empowered! We also discuss limitations prior so I am aware of what not to suggest.
Cinematic & Edgy Style: My moody, artistic editing style works for every couple, whether you’re in a wheelchair, embracing alternative fashion, or bringing unique props and gear.
Accessible Locations: I’ll scout spots that work logistically and visually so your session is smooth and comfortable.
