Hey, I'm Sydney! Your moody Minnesota maternity Photographer.
Pregnancy is one of those seasons of life that somehow feels long and fast at the same time. When you’re in the middle of it, it can feel uncomfortable, emotional, exciting, exhausting… sometimes all in the same day. But once it’s over, it suddenly feels like it went by in a blur.
I photographed this maternity session just days before their baby arrived, which made it even more special. There’s something about those last few weeks of waiting that feels different: the anticipation, the nerves, the excitement, and the realization that life is about to change in the best way.
As a mom myself, maternity sessions mean a lot to me. Looking back at my own photos now, I’m so grateful I have them. It’s easy to forget how incredible it really is to grow an entire human, and photos help you remember the beauty in that season, even if it didn’t always feel beautiful in the moment.
For this session, we kept things relaxed and natural, including dad and big sister in some of the photos. The chickens even made an appearance! I love when maternity sessions include the whole family, because it tells the full story. Not just the pregnancy, but the people who are already part of that baby’s world.
My goal with maternity photography isn’t to make everything feel stiff or overly posed. I want your photos to feel real, emotional, and true to you. Whether that means moody lighting, outdoor locations, studio sessions, or including your partner and kids, the most important thing is capturing this moment the way it actually feels.
If you’re thinking about booking a maternity session, my advice is always the same: do it. Even if you don’t feel perfect, even if you’re tired, even if pregnancy feels hard. One day you’ll look back at these photos and be so glad you have them.
I offer maternity sessions in Minnesota, the Twin Cities area and beyond! I love working with families who want photos that feel natural, cinematic, and a little different from the traditional style.
